TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED IN THE 2005 GENERAL ELECTION CAMPAIGN THANK YOU
A VERY SINCERE THANK-YOU to you and everyone in Sutton Coldfield who helped in our successful General Election Campaign.
We had nearly 100 active campaigners!
We achieved our historic national ‘Third Term’ for the first time ever,
and here in Sutton we continued to strengthen Labour’s hold on a strong second place.
We are the ONLY Constituency out of 58 in the whole of the West Midlands Region, where Labour’s share of the vote (26%) has actually INCREASED since our Party’s 1997 landslide.
And despite their national revival, the Liberal Democrats slipped further behind us here, falling to their lowest share of the vote since the present Constituency was formed in 1974 (16%).
