CAMPAIGNERS WIN GOOD HOPE PARKING SUCCESS

Residents living in residential roads around the Good Hope hospital have won their longstanding battle to secure parking restrictions, Sutton Coldfield Labour Party's Prospective Parliamentary Candidate Dr Rob Pocock has claimed this week.
Dr Pocock has worked alongside residents in West View Road and neighbouring roads for over a year.
Proposals were first agreed last autumn, submitting petitions both to the previous Labour Council and the new Conservative-Liberal coalition. Plans to agree the parking restrictions were originally agreed by previous cabinet member for transportation Coun John Tyrrell, but the implementation was held up while the new administration came into post. Commenting on the campaign's success, Dr Pocock said, "The vast majority of local residents have supported the restrictions and it's a scandal that the objections of a few have been allowed for so long to prevent the majority from securing a better quality of life.
The credit for this achievement is the relentless determination of local campaigners to keep battling on, and it certainly helped that there has been all-party backing for the project.
With new provisions for parking coming on stream at Good Hope, I am optimistic that this decision will soon mean an end to the parking troubles and inconvenience caused to so many local families"
The restrictions will limit parking on certain sides of roads at specified times and days of the week. The approved scheme was accepted by residents in a ballot and re-confirmed in a survey carried out by Dr Pocock earlier this year, as published in the local papers.
